The Denton County Jail is located at 127 North Woodrow Ln. Denton, TX 76205. There are two detention centers, with detention center 1 consisting of the main jail , with a capacity of 257 beds, and pods that have a total capacity of 384 inmates. Detention center 2 has a capacity of 850 beds and is dedicated to pretrial confinement.

The Main Jail opened its doors in 1986, while the pods were completed in 1994. The Main Jail is staffed by one lieutenant, three sergeants, six corporals, and detention officers who work two 12-hour shifts. Its pods are staffed by officers 24/7, and each pod contains 48 inmates. The jail is headed by Captain Bruce Elsey.
Visitations are held in the Pod Jail Public Entrance on the Woodrow St side. Currently, most jail visitations are held through HomeWav, which is an offsite video visitation system. However, on-site visits can be scheduled ahead of time, and occur between Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Remote visits are available from Sunday through Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
