Hayward’s veteran city manager is leaving for chief administrator position in Santa Barbara

Kelly McAdoo, Hayward’s city manager and chief executive officer for eight years, is leaving to become the chief administrator of Santa Barbara.

McAdoo, who has spent a total of 13 years with the city of Hayward, was saluted by the city council in a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Her last day with the city will be May 3, officials said Friday.

The council approved a contract earlier this week to promote Assistant City Manager Dustin Claussen to interim city manager until a permanent successor is appointed. Claussen is Hayward’s former finance director.
