Extract Images From Office Files
This powerful online makes extracting images from Office documents like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint easier than ever! With our tool, you can quickly and easily extract images from any DOCX, PPTX, or XLSX file, allowing you to use them however you need. There’s several ways to describe what this online tool does to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files: batch extract pictures, save images, export photos, or save images as png or jpg. Need other features, just ask for a feature and we’ll try to make it happen — sometimes in just a single day!
Edit Images In a Word Document
Here’s the basic steps needed to edit images in a Word Document, and the same process applies for PPTX and XLSX files too:
- Upload your file in the tool above and extract the images. The “original” setting may be best for quality, but PNG or JPEG may be most likely to work.
- Download your images: they will be downloaded in a ZIP file. This file should automatically decompress and open a folder when you double click on the downloaded file.
- Upload the image you’d like to edit in SuperTool’s Fully-Featured Image Editor. Here, you can add text, rotate, change colors, and more. When it looks like you want it to, download it!
- Finally, insert the downloaded image file into your original document. For example, open the .DOCX document in Word, scroll to the relevant image, select it, delete it. Then, drag and drop your edited image into the Word document.
- That’s it!
Extract to Different Image File Formats:
- PNG
- JPEG
- PDF
- WEBP
- Or the original formats inside the Word document
It extracts charts and figures that are saved in the word files as images.
The extracted images are in their original size and shape, without any scaling or cropping. The visible area of the image may be larger than any cropped versions used in the docx file, as Word doesn’t always crop images as expected. In PowerPoint files, original images are often available in addition to image files that show everything on a slide.
A new version of the tool released in late 2023 extracts anywhere from 1 to 1,000 images… possibly even more. However, if the images files are quite large, a custom job will need to be done: contact us for info!

Save Pictures from a Word/Excel/PowerPoint File
If you have many images or can’t open the file or want to save pictures from many documents, this online tool speeds up the process tremendously. Saving pictures from a Word document can be useful for several reasons. First, it allows you to access and use those images outside of the Word document itself. For instance, you may want to include one of the images in a presentation or share it on social media. In some cases, you may also want to make edits to the images themselves, such as cropping or resizing them, and saving them separately enables you to do so.
